Sustainability

ITALFIL strongly believes that sustainability consists in responding with facts to an ethical concept of doing business. Therefore, we value the respect of the environment but also of the people: employees, collaborators, customers and suppliers.

Energy
100% of the energy used by ITALFIL comes from renewable sources.
In 2010 a major photovoltaic system was built, further expanded in 2022, from which ITALFIL obtains a significant part of the required energy. The remaining part is purchased on the market in the form of green energy. Italfil is also equipped with an electrical consumption monitoring system through which it is able to verify any anomalies in the operation of the machinery, with the aim of making energy consumption more efficient and therefore reducing waste.
These important projects, combined with a continuous commitment to finding partners involved in Eco-sustainability, make “Green” one of the company's main assets.

Certifications

It's a certification that guarantees the quality and traceability of wool fibers along the whole value chain, from the farm - where the sheep is cared for and sheared - to the finished garment. Nativa wool, which is completely mulesing-free, comes from the best pastures in Argentina, Uruguay, the United States, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand.

It's the most important international standard for the certification of textile products made with natural fibres from organic farming.
The standard defines very restrictive environmental and social criteria that apply to all stages of production.

Environmental
Labelling
ITALFIL follows the most recent regulations on environmental labelling of packaging.
The IT regulations are: Legislative Decree 3 September 2020 n. 116 which implements EU Directive 2018/851 on waste, and Directive (EU) 2018/852 on packaging and packaging waste.
It is expected that, on all primary, secondary and tertiary packaging, producers must indicate, for the purposes of identification and classification of the packaging, the nature of the packaging materials used, on the basis of Commission Decision 97/129/EC.
Ministerial Decree no. 360 of 28 September 2022 was published on 21 November 2022, which adopts the Guidelines on the environmental labelling of packaging by responsible parties.
For greater simplification, the packages are grouped into homogeneous categories and described with an image or a general description (e.g. pallets, straps, films, etc.), as well as accompanied by the relative material coding (according to decision 97/129/EC).
